Join our 3 days Fes to Marrakech desert tour and combine Fez and Marrakech via Merzouga (Erg Chebbi). This 3-day tour is your chance to be entertained by the Atlas Mountains, the views of Berber villages, the valleys and ride a camel to spend the night in the Sahara desert camp.
Tour itinerary
Day 1 : Fez - Azrou -Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga (Night in the desert camp)
We will pick you up from your riad/hotel to start your 3 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech and then drive south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we will stop in the cedar forests to see Barbarian apes in their natural habitat. Traveling through the Tizi Ntalghamt Pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved out of volcanic rock, you’ll see views of the Middle Atlas Plateau and the landscape changes to reveal hints of desert as you approach the town of Errachidia. After lunch, we will continue our journey through the Ziz valley towards Erfoud, Rissani and Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea, we will leave our luggage in a secure room and then ride a camel to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi Sad dunes, which are the highest in North Africa. The camel trek takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the camp to set up Berber tents for our night in the desert. The tents are well equipped with mattresses, blankets and cushions. After dinner, we will gather around the fire and enjoy the sound of traditional Berber drums under the stars. That is the end of the first day of our desert tour from Fes to Marrakech.
Day 2: Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges
We will see an incredible sunrise over the sea of dunes. After a delicious breakfast and a hot shower at the camp, we will return to Merzouga again on camels or 4×4 as an option. Then, we will leave the Sahara desert towards Tinghir “the mountain city” in Tamazight, another beautiful Berber town where we will delight in the contrast of its palm trees and the peculiar color of its houses. route where the landscape shows its contrasts. We are in the Todra gorges formed by rocky walls of more than 200m and after visiting them we will go to the Dades Valley, a Berber town famous for its high gorges and its views of the Atlas, now on the horizon. Second night of the desert tour from Fez to Marrakech in a charming riad.
Day 3 : Dades - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Marrakech
On the last day of our 3 days desert tour from Fez to Marrakech, we will cross the Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses until we reach Ouarzazate, where we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. After about 25 km of walking, we will see the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, famous for being the scene of cinematographic blockbusters such as the Oscar-winning “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Shelter Sky” or “Babel”. We will follow the road through the Tizi N-Tichka pass and the beautiful landscapes of the High Atlas mountains that will lead us to the “Red City”, Marrakech and here you can say goodbye to your guide.
