Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Draa Valley - Agdz
We begin the tour with pick-up at your accommodation in Marrakech in the morning. The route takes us over the impressive High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi N'Tichka pass, with stops for photos and coffee. We will visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a World Heritage Site, and the city of Ouarzazate. After lunch (not included), we will continue south through the Ait Saoune pass to reach the entrance to the Draa Valley. We will descend through the valley until we reach Agdz, where the Tamnougalt Kasbah is located. Dinner and overnight in a Riad or hotel in Agdz or surroundings.
Day 2: Agdz - Draa Valley - Zagora - Tazarine - Rissani - Merzouga (Night in Camp)
After breakfast, we will continue our exploration of the Draa Valley, passing through the extensive palm grove and kasbahs until we reach Zagora. From Zagora, the route detours east, through more arid desert landscapes, passing through villages like Tazarine and Alnif, until we reach Rissani, the founding city of the Alaouite dynasty. From Rissani, it's a short journey to Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, we will begin our camel trek to the desert camp, enjoying the sunset, traditional dinner, and Berber music under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga - Rissani - Nkob - Draa Valley - Zagora
We will wake up early to see the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, we will return by camel or 4x4 to Merzouga. Today, we will begin the journey back to Marrakech on a different route. We will return through Rissani and continue south on a road that crosses Berber villages and desert landscapes until we reach Nkob, known for its 45 kasbahs. The route will take us back to the Draa Valley, exploring another section of the palm grove. Dinner and overnight in a Riad or hotel in the Draa Valley area or Zagora.
Day 4: Zagora - Draa Valley - Ouarzazate - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
After breakfast, we will continue the journey back to Marrakech. We will pass through Agdz and return to Ouarzazate. From Ouarzazate, we will cross the impressive High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi N'Tichka pass again, enjoying the last views of this spectacular mountain landscape. We will arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon, with transfer to your accommodation, thus completing this comprehensive tour of the south and desert.
